Reports suggest that the Tamil Nadu government has proposed a ban for New Year celebrations in beaches, clubs, resorts and restaurants. The ban will be in place for two days both on the eve of New year, 31st December and 1st January. This order was passed in order to minimise the virus spread.

Accordingly, no midnight celebrations would be allowed on the beach roads, private beaches, resorts and hotels on the new year eve.

Reports also said that the beaches might be closed for public access who visit as a group, on the New year day.

This announcement comes on a time when the government is slowly relaxing its restrictions after a stringent lockdown period of nearly 8 months. Also the regular functionality of the hotels, restaurants, entertainment hubs and resorts shall continue with the current SOPs in place, said the report.
