Tamil Nadu govt announces Deepavali bonus for PSU employees

A bonus of 8.33% and ex-gratia of 1.67% will be given to the Group 'C' and 'D' category workers and employees for Deepavali.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has announced Deepavali bonus to the PSU employees, ahead of the festival.

This announcement comes despite a decrease in the income of factories and industries in Tamil Nadu, which were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A bonus of 8.33% and ex-gratia of 1.67% will be given to the Group 'C' and 'D' category workers and employees for Deepavali.

The government has lauded the PSU employees for their hard work and dedication to boost the economic growth of the state. The income of TN Electricity board, TN State Transport Corporation, TN Tea Plantation Corporation and several others were affected due to the lockdown. The government has stated that it paid full salary to the workers during the lockdown in spite of the dip in the economy.

Amount of Rs 210.48 crore has been allocated for the bonus of the PSU employees. Bonus and ex-gratia of Rs 8,400 will be given to the eligible permanent workers by the government.
