CHENNAI: The fate of more than 8 lakh Class 12 students will be known on Thursday with the State School Education Department all set to announce the results on May 8.

This year, board exams for Class 12 students were conducted from March 3-25 with around 8.2 lakh students having appeared for it across TN. Of the total, there were 3.88 lakh boys and 4.24 lakh girls.

Around 18,000 private candidates and 145 prison inmates have also written the exam. Answer sheet evaluation began in April and all the marks were uploaded in the database. Authorities of the School Education Department have instructed evaluators to be careful while correcting the answer sheets, and provide marks accurately.

As per the earlier schedule, Class 12 board exam results were supposed to be published on May 9. However, the State government has decided to publish them a day early. Accordingly, results will be released by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on May 8 at 9 am.

Students can also view their results at https://results.digilocker.gov.in and www.tnresults.nic.in. Results will also be sent via SMS to the registered mobile number.
