Tamil Nadu: 3 siblings get jail for theft at ex-MP home

TIRUCHY: Thanjavur court on Thursday awarded six years of imprisonment for three siblings who had stolen 87 sovereign jewels from the house of former DMK MP AKS Vijayan.

On November 28, 2025, Vijayan, who was residing at Sekaran Nagar in Thanjavur, went to his native place in Nagapattinam. When he returned home in Thanjavur on December 1, he found that the front door of the house was broken and 87 sovereigns of jewels had gone missing.

Based on the complaint by Vijayan’s wife Jothimani, Tamil University Police registered a case and arrested M Moideen (37) from Dharmapuri, his brother M Shajahan (28) and his sister Ayisha Parveen (30) and the jewels were recovered from them. They were lodged in the prison.

The case file was submitted before the Judicial Magistrate court on March 30, and on Thursday, the Magistrate Prabhu Ram, who heard the case, awarded six years of imprisonment to Mouideen and Shajahan and three years imprisonment to Ayisha Parveen.
