State’s TPR dips to 2.5%; death toll remains at 38,048

CHENNAI: New COVID cases reduced further in Tamil Nadu, which reported 302 cases on Wednesday. Total number of cases reached 35,87,861. Chennai reported new 77 cases, Chengalpattu had 22 cases, Coimbatore 21, Kanniyakumari 18, Tiruchy 14, Tiruvallur 13, and Erode 12. TN’s test positivity rate (TPR) reduced to 2.5% after 12,007 samples were tested on October 11. The highest TPR was in Salem with 5.1%, Tirunelveli had 4.5%, Krishnagiri and Chengalpattu each reported 4.3%, Erode had 4.1%, Coimbatore 4%, and Chennai had 2.6% TPR. As many as 406 patients were discharged across the state on Wednesday. Total number of recoveries reached 35,45,467. No new COVID fatality was reported. Death toll remained at 38,048.
