State records 1,707 fresh cases, 19 deaths

Tamil Nadu recorded 1,707 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Thursday and 19 deaths across the State. There were three imported cases from other states, too.

The total number of active cases fell to 13,907 across the State. So far, 7,64,989 cases have been recorded.

In Chennai, there were 471 fresh cases and the total number of active cases in the city currently stands at 4,567.

In the districts, Coimbatore had 149 fresh cases, while Chengalpattu had 119. Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram had 138 and 98 respectively.

Of the deaths, only one patient did not have any comorbidities. There were 12 deaths at government health facilities and seven deaths at private facilities.

Nearly 2,251 patients across the State were discharged following treatment on Thursday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 7,39,532. This brings the recovery rate to around 96 per cent.

Around 67,115 samples were tested across 213 private and public labs across Tamil Nadu. The total number of samples tested across the State stands at 1,13,33,206.
