CHENNAI: Highways Minister EV Velu has urged the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways to take up works on elevated road works from Kilambakkam to Chengalpattu and Maduravoyal to Chennai Outer Ring Road junction on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highways.

In the review meeting chaired by Minister Gadkari on the NH works undertaken in Tamil Nadu, Velu demanded that the centre cease collection of user fees in certain toll plazas.

He also demanded the Union government take up eight lanes of the Chengalpattu-Ulundurpet stretch of the Highways, and sought six-laning of the Coimbatore bypass.

“I had chaired a review meeting at the Secretariat to clear hurdles in the execution of the NH project works in the State, for which the State government will extend its full support,” he added.
