Stanford Univ names 10 VIT professors among top scientists

Adding one more feather to the cap of VIT University, 10 professors of the institute were named among the top 2 per cent scientists in India, by the US-based Stanford University, officials revealed.

University officials said that the database was created by Stanford University experts led by Dr John Ioannidis.

The named scientists include MA Vijayalakshmi from the school of bioseparation technologies, AK Cherukuri of VIT’s information technology school, R Murugan of the School of Biomaterials, Cellular and Molecular Theranostics.

Others in the list were Nilanjana Mitra Das from the school of biosciences and technology and GP Rangiah from the School of Civil Engineering.

BK Mandal, S Mohana Roopan and John Kennedy from the School of Advanced Sciences and professors M Ganapathi and Prashanth from the School of Mechanical Engineering were also named among the ten from VIT University.

The University officials said that the database was created on standardised citation indicators, including information on citations, index and co-authorship. 

VIT Chancellor G Viswanathan lauded the feat of the staff.
