Special buses to Rameswaram for Thai Amavasai

As a large number of devotees are expected to travel to the holy town to perform rites such as tharpanam and thithi for their ancestors on the occasion, additional buses have been planned from various parts of TN and from the neighbouring State of Karnataka.

CHENNAI: The State Express Transport Corporation will operate special bus services to Rameswaram from Chennai, Bengaluru and other places in view of Thai Amavasai falling tomorrow (Sunday), according to a statement issued by its Managing Director.

As a large number of devotees are expected to travel to the holy town to perform rites such as tharpanam and thithi for their ancestors on the occasion, additional buses have been planned from various parts of TN and from the neighbouring State of Karnataka.

Special buses will be operated to Rameswaram today from Chennai Kilambakkam, Salem, Coimbatore and Bengaluru. Correspondingly, additional services will be operated tomorrow from Rameswaram to Chennai Kilambakkam, Salem, Coimbatore and Bengaluru to facilitate the return of pilgrims. To ensure smooth operation of the special services, adequate number of officials have been deployed at designated bus terminals to monitor passenger movement and operations.

Passengers have been advised to make use of the special bus services and the advance booking facilities for a comfortable and planned journey during the Thai Amavasai period.
