Special buses to be operated from TN as holidays draw to a close

According to a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) statement, it is expected that more numbers of passengers would travel across the State on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (June 2 to June 4) as the schools are to reopen on June 7.

CHENNAI: The State Transport Department has announced that it will operate special buses on Saturday and Sunday as schools are scheduled to be reopened on June 7.

According to a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) statement, it is expected that more numbers of passengers would travel across the State on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (June 2 to June 4) as the schools are to reopen on June 7.

"Owing to this, the State Transport Corporations will operate additional buses in addition to regular buses. As many as 900 special buses will be operated to Chennai from various parts of the State. Also, as many as 1,300 special buses will be operated to Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Trichy, Salem and Bengaluru from other parts. In total, 2,200 special buses will be operated," the statement said.

The statement requested the passengers to plan their journey accordingly by pre-booking the tickets. Moreover, the department has appointed officials in bus stands to streamline the bus operation.

Also, additional buses will be operated from Madurai and Trichy for the use of passengers who failed to pre-book tickets.
