Southern Railway cancels, reschedules Tamil Nadu-bound trains

Meanwhile, the Shalimar-MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express departing Shalimar on August 4 will be delayed by one hour en route.

CHENNAI: Southern Railway has announced changes to several long distance trains, including services from Chennai, Villupuram, Kanniyakumari, and Tirunelveli, due to yard remodelling works at Balasore station.

The Villupuram-Kharagpur Superfast Express scheduled to leave Villupuram on August 4 and the Kharagpur-Villupuram Superfast Express departing Kharagpur on August 6 have been cancelled.

The Kanniyakumari-Dibrugarh Vivek Express leaving Kanniyakumari on August 7 and the return service from Dibrugarh on August 4 have also been cancelled.

Similarly, Mangaluru Central-Santragachi Vivek Superfast Express departing Mangaluru Central on August 1 and the return service from Santragachi on July 30 have also been cancelled.

The Purulia-Tirunelveli Superfast Express departing Purulia on August 3 has been rescheduled to leave one hour later, while the Tirunelveli-Purulia Superfast Express leaving Tirunelveli on August 5 will depart one hour and 30 minutes later than scheduled.

Meanwhile, the Shalimar-MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express departing Shalimar on August 4 will be delayed by one hour en route.

The changes are due to non-interlocking and pre-non-interlocking works being carried out for yard remodelling at Balasore station in connection with the Nayangarh-Bhadrak third-line project.
