Six accused of blocking doc’s burial denied bail

The district court dismissed six more bail applications of people accused of obstructing the burial of a doctor who succumbed to COVID-19.

The body was taken to TP Chatram burial ground when residents posed a stiff resistance and refused the final rites. Eventually, the body was taken to Velangadu ground where residents damaged the ambulance and the mob acted inhumanly.

After analysing the CCTV footage in both areas, Anna Nagar and TP Chatram police arrested more than 60 people and booked them for various offences. Earlier the court had refused to grant bail to 50 accused.
