Reasoning the formation of the new Environment Wing, Stalin said that there was a request for long to constitute an exclusive party wing to question the approach of the rulers against ecology, land and oceanic resources on issues like deep sea hydrocarbon exploration, oil wells across throughout the state, hydrocarbon projects in Delta districts, Sterlite plant in Thoothukudi and Salem-Chennai eight lane project.

Remarking that Tamil Nadu has been adversely affected by the projects implemented by the government for the benefit of corporate without any concern for the ecology, Stalin said the wing should fight non-violently to safeguard the rights of the people.
