2 killed, 1 injured as container lorry hits their bike in Ambur

AMBUR: Two schoolchildren, both sisters, were killed on the spot and their father was injured when their two-wheeler was hit by an out of control container lorry near Ambur on Thursday.

Jayasri (17) and Varasri (12) were daughters of Dhandapani of Veerappankuppam near Ambur.

As the girls missed their school bus, their father was taking them to school on his two-wheeler.

When the vehicle neared Ambur town, a Chennai-bound container lorry from Hosur went out of control and climbed the median and hit the two-wheeler from behind resulting in both Varasri and Jayasri being killed on the spot, while Dhandapani suffered serious injuries.

Police admitted Dhandapani to Ambur GH from where he was referred to the Vellore GMCH. A case was registered.
