Security guard dies as ambulance hits motorbike

On Wednesday night, Ananda Vel who works as a security guard at a private firm in Mappedu was returning home in his two-wheeler. As he climbed the Kadambathur railway overbridge and descended on the other side, a 108 ambulance that was heading towards Perambakkam hit him.

TIRUVALLUR: In a tragic road accident, a 56-year-old security guard died when a 108 ambulance collided with his motorbike near Kadambathur on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Ananda Vel of Venmanampudur.

On Wednesday night, Ananda Vel who works as a security guard at a private firm in Mappedu was returning home in his two-wheeler. As he climbed the Kadambathur railway overbridge and descended on the other side, a 108 ambulance that was heading towards Perambakkam hit him.

“He sustained grievous injuries and was immediately rushed to the Tiruvallur Government Hospital by passers-by,” police said. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival. Following this, the ambulance driver Senthil Kumar, 38, surrendered to the police. The Mappedu police have registered a case and are investigating.
