SEC ‘screws’ up independent’s symbol

In an unusual climax to the local body election episode, an independent candidate from Viralimalai Panchayat Union who campaigned for a particular symbol was shocked to see the different symbol against his name in the ballot paper following which he created ruckus in the polling booth on Friday.

According to sources, VSP Sekar, an AIADMK functionary was allotted the spanner symbol. Sekar who was confident of winning the seat, was shocked to find the symbol of ‘screw’ in the ballot paper and the display list instead of ‘spanner’ under whichhe campaigned.


Shocked by this, Sekar argued with the polling officials and they explained in detail. As he was not satisfied with the response he attempted for a protest.
