CHENNAI: Putting the speculations to rest, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Monday confirmed that schools will function on January 18.
The education department for the Pongal festival has announced holidays for schools on January 15,16 and 17. However, speculations raised on Monday that schools will remain closed on Wednesday, across the State, a day after the festival.
However, the minister on Monday clarified that government and government-aided schools will function on Wednesday and, the department has no plans to announce a holiday.
