Sanitary staff felicitated for Big Temple work

Thanjavur District Collector M Govindarao on Friday lauded 1,272 municipal staff for their exemplary works during the consecration of the Big Temple.

In order to ensure cleanliness in the entire Thanjavur City during the consecration, the sanitary staff from 18 municipalities from Thanjavur zone, eight municipalities from Madurai zone and the staff from Tiruchy and Thanjavur City Corporations were roped in for the sanitation works. They were staying in Thanjavur from January 30 to February 6.


Govindarao felicitated the entire staff and handed over a reward of Rs 1,000 each and a certificate of merit to all the workers.


“You dedicated yourself for the noble duty and worked round-the-clock to ensure cleanliness and you all deserve a felicitation,” the Collector said prior to handing over the reward and the certificate.


He appreciated the workers that they had prepared themselves well even in the short period of time.


Meanwhile, the Collector pointed out that the entire Thanjavur City appears clean and it is the duty of the sanitary staff from Thanjavur to maintain the city with the same vein.


Commissioner Janaki Ravindran, RDO Velumani and others took part in the felicitation programme.
