Sagayam IAS opts for voluntary retirement from service: Reports

IAS officer U.Sagayam who is well known for unearthing the Granite scam in Madurai, has opted for VRS, as per reports.

U Sagayam IAS who is currently serving as the Vice-Chairman of Science City, Chennai has opted for voluntary retirement from government service, according to agency reports.

While the IAS officer still has 3 more years of service, before he reaches the age of Super Annuation, Sagayam has reportedly applied for Voluntary retirement from service.

Further reports said the IAS officer being posted in a non-prominent department for the past 6 years, has forced him to end his service.

Sagayam IAS who is known for his unrelenting work during his tenure in Madurai. His extensive action to unearth the granite mafia and the mining lobby behind it earned him applauds.

According to reports, U Sagayam has applied for voluntary retirement on October 2 and eventually he may be relieved by next month.

Sagayam is currently running an NGO named Makkal Pathai, a trust that was formed with many retired IAS officers, to reform the society.

U Sagayam who is known for strict action against lawbreakers is currently serving as Vice Chairman of Science City, Chennai.

Sources close to him have said that the officer might choose to train the aspiring IAS applicants, in the future, post his retirement.
