TIRUCHY: To insist the government implement MS Swaminathan's recommendation on MSP, the members of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) have planned to organise a padayatra from Kanniyakumari to Kashmir, said PR Pandian, president, coordination committee of all farmers association on Wednesday.
Speaking in Tiruvarur, Pandian said, the SKM national coordinator Jagjit Singh Dallewal had staged a hunger strike for 140 days in Delhi for the implementation of MS Swaminathan's recommendation on MSP and write off the crop loans, but that has not so far been fulfilled.
We have planned to meet the Chief Ministers and seek their support, and ahead of the meeting, the SKM has planned to organise a padayatra from Kanniyakumari to Kashmir on February 7, which would be led by DallewalPR Pandian
Meanwhile, on January 19, a meeting of farmers from Tenkasi, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari was planned in Nagercoil, which would discuss the preparations for the yatra. SKM state leader P Ayyakannu would preside over the meeting in Nagercoil, Pandian added.
