RSS cadre attacked by unidentified gang

In a fresh incident of communal violence in Coimbatore, a RSS functionary was assaulted by a group of four-member unidentified gang in Sundarapuram on Wednesday evening.


According to police, Surya Prakash, 28, a local RSS functionary, was at his pressed oil manufacturing firm in Sundarapuram, when four persons barged into his company and attacked him with a sickle.


The assailants then escaped from the spot. On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and held inquiries. The injured youth has been taken to a private hospital for treatment.


Members of the Hindu outfits staged a protest condemning the attack in Sundarapuram area. In another incident, Mohammed Mustak Ahmed, 52 from Lakshmi Nagar near Kuniamuthur were attacked by two unidentified persons with iron rod, while he was returning home on Tuesday night.


As he collapsed on the spot, the public rushed him to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. The city police have registered cases in both the incidents and a search is on for the culprits.
