Rs 8 cr granted for repair work at temple, Nagore Dargah

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday announced close to Rs 8 crore towards renovation of Nagore Dargah in Nagapattinam district and Ilamaiyakkinar temple in Chidambaram.

“In the recent floods, the wall surrounding the pond of Ilamaiyakkinar temple was damaged completely. During my recent visit to Chidambaram to inspect the damages caused by the flood, residents urged the state government to construct the wall and based on their demands, state government will allocate Rs 2.62 crore towards construction of the wall,” said Chief Minister, in a statement.

Due to floods caused by Cyclone Burevi, there were severe damages to properties in Cauvery Delta districts.

During the visit of Chief Minister to the damaged areas, there were demands from public to repair the damaged properties.

Apart from Ilamaiyakkinar temple, the walls surrounding the ponds of Nagore Dargah were also damaged. During the visit of Chief Minister to Nagapattinam, Muslims in the locality had urged state government to rebuild the walls.

Following the demands, Chief Minister announced that all four walls surrounding the pond in the Dargah would be constructed at the cost of Rs 5.32 crore.
