Renovated Manora, boat ride inaugurated

Informing that the facility has been initiated to promote tourism in the district, the minister expressed confidence that the number of visitors to Manora would increase in the coming days.

TIRUCHY: As part of efforts to improve tourism in Thanjavur, minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Thursday inaugurated the renovated Manora and boat rides.

Inaugurating the facilities, Mahesh Poyyamozhi said the manora tourist centre had been renovated at a cost of Rs 1.74 crore. A boat jetty has been constructed at a cost of Rs 69.73 lakh at Manora in addition to a children’s park constructed at a cost of Rs 33 lakh. Three motor boats and life jackets have been made available for a pleasure ride, which will be an added attraction for tourists.

Informing that the facility has been initiated to promote tourism in the district, the minister expressed confidence that the number of visitors to Manora would increase in the coming days. He appealed to the locals to ensure a clean environment.

The minister after going on a brief ride along with district collector Dinesh Ponraj Oliver, MLAs Durai Chandrasekaran (Tiruvaiyaru) and Annadurai (Pattukoottai) flagged off the boat services.
