CHENNAI: Online registration for engineering courses in Tamil Nadu has commenced on Sunday and will continue until June 2, as per the notification released by the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE).

Admissions for BE, B Tech, and BArch programmes in government, government-aided, constituent colleges, and Anna University department colleges can register online – www.tneaonline.org and www.dte.tn.gov.in

The registration fee is 500 for MBC, OBC, and general category students, while SC/ST candidates are required to pay 250. Across TN, around 2.2 lakh seats are available in nearly 480 engineering colleges affiliated with Anna University. These seats are filled annually through a single-window counselling process.

As per the schedule, candidates can upload their documents until June 6. Certificate verification will take place from June 8-20. The rank list is scheduled to be published on June 29. The counselling dates will be announced after approval from AICTE.

To assist students, the Directorate has also arranged facilitation through TFC (TNEA Facilitation Centres) for registration. Tamil Nadu has been witnessing an upward trend in engineering admissions, driven largely by increasing interest in emerging fields such as AI and Data Science. This year, core branches like Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) are also expected to see a rise in enrolment.

Last year, over 3 lakh students registered for engineering counselling, out of which 1.55 lakh secured seats, while around 45,000 seats remained vacant.

Earlier, it was expected that the registration process would begin after May 8, following the announcement of Class 12 results. However, the process began earlier this year.

The schedule for lateral entry and part-time BE/B Tech admissions will be announced separately.
