Police seized red sanders worth Rs 50 lakh from two abandoned cars at Hosur in Krishnagiri district on Thursday.

COIMBATORE: Police seized red sanders worth Rs 50 lakh from two abandoned cars at Hosur in Krishnagiri district on Thursday. On receiving information about the abandoned cars at MGR Nagar, a police team from Mathigiri station in presence of officials from forest and revenue departments, seized 11 red sander logs from one car and eight logs from another car. The red sanders, which weigh around 658 kg is worth Rs 50 lakh. Police believe that the wooden logs were axed and smuggled from Andhra Pradesh. As there were three more cars abandoned on the stretch, the police are investigating if they too belong to the smugglers.
