Recipients for State awards announced

The TN government on Thursday announced the recipients of State awards instituted in the names of Thiruvalluvar, Periyar, Ambedkar, Anna, Bharathiyar, Bharathidasan, and Thiru Vi Ka. The awards would be presented by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at a function in Chennai on Monday.

According to a statement from the Public Information Department, Nithyananda Bharathi has been chosen for the Thiruvalluvar Award for 2020, while Senji S Ramachandran has been chosen for Periyar Award. K Arjunan will be conferred the Ambedkar Award, and former legislator K Samarasam will be presented the Peraringnar Anna Award. P Sivaraj has been chosen for Bharathiyar Award, poet Thenisai Chellapa will be given Bharathidasan Award, while Thiru Vi Ka award will be given to S Sundararasan. Manimegalai Kannan will be given the Muthamizh Kavalar award, the release added. The State also announced the literary awards for those promoting Tamil literature. The awards will be presented by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at an event held at the Kalaivanar Arangam on January 20, the release added.
