Following a complaint by Dr G Selvarajan, Additional Director of Medical Education and Secretary of Selection Committee, Periamet police have registered a case under various Sections of the IPC against NB Deeksha of Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram. Her father, Dr NK Balachandran, is a dentist.

Deeksha scored only 27 marks in NEET-UG 2020. However, she applied with the forged score card which read that she had scored 610 marks. While her application was rejected as her name wasn’t in the rank list, the candidate and her father reached the counselling venue on November 30 and argued with officials on her omission from counselling. To support her claim, they also produced a rank list in which Deeksha’s photo and roll number were present. However, an internal probe revealed that the rank list was also forged as she had replaced the photo and roll number of another candidate called N Hrithika, who had actually scored 610 marks. When contacted, Dr G Selvarajan said, “We suspect malpractice by the girl and have lodged a complaint with police.” City Police Commissioner Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal said an inquiry has been initiated.ent said in a statement
