“The mouth fresher ‘Cool Lip’ contains filtered tobacco and is sold mainly in shops located near the schools. Though ‘Cool Lip’ is banned in the state, it is manufactured in northern states and is smuggled into Tamil Nadu through Karnataka”, said Ramadoss in a statement.

He also said that the Central and state governments are taking various measures for the betterment of school students but some gangs are targeting only school students to make money by selling tobacco products.

The school students have become addicted to the tobacco product and are forced to spend more money to buy them.

“Initially, ‘Cool Lip’ is provided free to students by the gangs and once the students get addicted to the tobacco product, they are sold at Rs 20 per pack.

Richer students pay and get ‘Cool Lip’ but students from poor background who cannot pay for the tobacco product are forced to sell them to their friends there by creating a big network in the state”, said Ramadoss.
