Even as Rajinikanth’s disappointment over a ‘particular issue’ trigged a social media storm, sources in Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) said that the actor might have disappointed over the performance of some of the district secretaries on meeting the targets over the membership drive and appointment of booth level office-bearers. “Few districts are lagging behind.

He was not happy over it,” said a district secretary of the RMM who did not want to be named.

Earlier, while responding to a question if he and Kamal Haasan were trying to fill in the void left by J Jayalalithaa and M Karunanidhi, Rajinikanth said, “Only time will tell.”

On his meeting with Muslim clerics following his comments that religious leaders are inciting protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, Rajinikanth said that the meeting with Muslim leaders recently was a pleasant one. “They mainly insisted on brotherhood, love and peace to prevail in the country and sought my support. I will definitely support them. I asked the Muslim religious leaders to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah on issues over the CAA-NPR. They could get an appointment to meet them. I will also help them in this regard,” he added.
