CHENNAI: CHENNAI: DMK student wing president Rajiv Gandhi took a jibe at Vijay, saying that it was no surprise he was unable to differentiate between Fascism and payasam, referring to Raj Bhavan addressing the TVK chief as C Joseph Vijay, drawing in his religious identity in a press release issued over the actor cum politician's meeting with Governor RN Ravi on the Anna University student sexual assault incident.

Rajiv Gandhi pointed out how the TVK president had specifically mentioned his name as Vijay in the petition to the gubernatorial head, but Raj Bhavan, in its press release, had added his religious identity explicitly.

In a rebuke on his social media handle, Rajiv Gandhi asked Vijay to learn what is the true meaning of Fascism. "Respected Vijay, do you know what Fascism is?" Rajiv Gandhi asked. "In the petition you submitted to the Governor, your name is simply Vijay. However, in the press release issued by Raj Bhavan, which functions as an adjunct of Kamalalayam, the BJP's state headquarters, your name is transformed into C Joseph Vijay. This, sir, is a quintessential example of Fascism," he said

The DMK student wing president's remarks have sparked a heated debate on social media, with many users weighing in on the issue.

While some have supported his stance, others have accused him of politicising the issue and mudslinging.
