Pvt hospitals told to provide essential service

The Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services (DMS) has issued a notice to all the private hospitals to provide maternal and child health services for follow-up and all chronic illness patients.

The Directorate officials said that if any private hospital denies its essential services, their licence will be suspended or cancelled.

It also issued instructions to all the private clinical establishments to provide essential services and to attend chronic illnesses like maintenance dialysis chemotherapy and other neurological supportive care.

The notice stated that denying essential services to the patients is unethical and against the rules of Medical Council of India. Thus, the clinical establishments should not close down their establishments and should offer medical services for their regular clients. The DMS officials said that if any private healthcare providers violate the rules and do not adhere to the instructions, the violation will be reported under the Clinical Establishments Act. any of the private to the suspension and cancellation of their registration,” said the official.
