Pudukkottai, Kulithalai arts colleges renamed after MK

Now, through the GO the older name has been reinstated.

Chennai: The state government renamed the government arts college for women in Pudukkottai and government arts college in Kulithalai after former chief minister M Karunanidhi. Two GOs have been issued to give effect to the change.

The government arts college for women in Pudukkottai was named after Karunanidhi in 1969, but in 1977 during the AIADMK rule the name of Karunanidhi was removed and was named as government arts college for women. Through the GO the name of the college has once again been changed to Kalaignar Karunanidhi Government Arts College for Women, Pudukkottai.
