According to the farmers, since the state government had supported the Centre’s UDAY scheme, the farmers here are affected a lot. They claimed that the amendment has clearly stated that the free power supply to both farmers as well as the weavers would be suspended, but at the same time, the Centre has allowed uninterrupted power supply to the corporate firms. Stating that the government has given only subsidy for the power supply and not free of cost, the farmers said, Tangedco has been receiving the deposits for power supply from all farmers. The farmers urged the state government to speak to the Centre and get back the free power supply. Subsequently, they installed black flags at the electric motors in their fields and raised slogans in support of their demands.
