“There are several incidents in which conservative forces creating barriers against the films with progressive contents by filing court cases as well as by violence. The new amendment will provide legality to such incidents,” the association passed a resolution in a meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by prominent writers, film producers, directors and actors. The association condemned the abolition of the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal. “Film producers and directors, will suffer from the abolition of the tribunal as they will have to go to the courts that already have lakhs of pending cases.

The new rules will be used against private films that talk against religious hatred. The state should respect freedom of speech and revoke the draft,” it said.
