The GO was issued after complaints received by the School Education Department that private schools were sending messages to parents asking them to pay tuition fee, some even warning that fine would be imposed if the fee was delayed. After the media raised queries about it, the School Education department sent a proposal to the State government on Monday. Based on the recommendations, state government issued the GO signed by Chief Secretary K Shanmugam. Apart from tuition fees, private educational institutions have been barred from collecting penalty for late payment of fees and also the dues from the students. The educational institutions were also warned that action would be taken against violators under Tamil Nadu Disaster Management Act of 2005.
