TIRUNELVELI: Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) general secretary Premalatha Vijayakant on Friday said Tamil Nadu would benefit if the party secured a share in power, adding that a decision on alliances would be announced at the appropriate time.

Speaking to reporters in Tirunelveli, she said the DMDK would align only with a party that offered due recognition and respect, and denied that it was bargaining with any political formation. “The party that forms an alliance with DMDK will win and come to power,” she stated.

On elections, she said she would also enter the fray. “We will give our response at the right time. If we get a share in power and authority, it will be good for Tamil Nadu,” she said.

Responding to a question on whether alliance talks were delayed due to financial demands, she said the party was being run with personal funds. She denied allegations on receiving bribes in connection with the Sterlite plant, she objected to the questioning.
