The four thermal power units in the old power plant generate 840 MW of electricity at 210 MW per unit. It is learnt that there was a technical snag in the boiler of one of the units which brought power generation to a standstill in that unit.

Technical teams were working on it and they said that it would be fixed in a day or two, after which power generation would resume. The snag comes a day after power generation in the 600 MW new thermal power plant at Mettur was stopped due to a technical snag.
