The Special Investigation Division (SID) of the CB-CID had a breakthrough in the murder of Sasi Kumar (September 22, 2016) on Tuesday, with the arrest of Hussain.

While the SID produced him before the court on Wednesday, they filed a petition seeking police custody of the youth for 10 days. This petition came up for hearing before the CJM KR Madhurasekaran on Friday. The accused refused to go to police custody and the

defence counsel, Bhavani P Mohan, said that the SID has already interrogated Hussain for 24 hours.

Mohan recalled that the police had initially arrested Syed Abudhakir (29) of KK Nagar in Saibaba Colony in connection with Sasikumar’s murder and claimed that the police could not get any information from him as he was innocent.

The prosecution sought police custody for Hussain to also trace the whereabouts of the three others who are said to have had a direct role in the murder. The CJM ordered the SID to produce Hussain before court on Wednesday. The court also granted permission to Hussain over meeting his lawyer on Sunday and Tuesday.

He was then taken to the office of the CB-CID (SID) office at the Police Recruits School campus in the city for questioning.
