According to the schedule, the Prime Minister will travel from Thiruvananthapuram by private plane, departing at 1.15 pm and arriving at the Chennai airport at 2.15 pm. He will then leave by a private helicopter at 2.25 pm and reach the Maduranthakam public meeting venue by 3 pm.

The NDA election rally will be held from 3 pm to 4.30 pm, during which Prime Minister Modi will deliver a special address. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, GK Vasan, John Pandian and other leaders of NDA alliance parties are also expected to attend the meeting.

After the event, the Prime Minister will depart Maduranthakam by helicopter at 4.30 pm, reach the Chennai airport by 5 pm, and leave for New Delhi by private plane at 5.05 pm.

Officials said the Prime Minister’s total travel schedule has been limited to two and three-quarter hours, following which he will use only a special aircraft and helicopter and avoid road travel.

Ahead of the visit, a Special Protection Group (SPG) team from New Delhi, led by an Assistant Inspector General, arrived in Chennai to review security arrangements. On Tuesday (January 20) morning, the team conducted an Advance Security Liaison (ASL) meeting at the Chennai airport.

Senior officials from the Chennai city police, Central Industrial Security Force, district revenue department, airport authorities, Central and State intelligence agencies, VIP security officials, medical and fire services took part in the meeting.

The SPG team inspected the area where the Prime Minister’s aircraft will be parked, the helicopter landing zone, and reviewed the deployment of officers for security surveillance. It has also been decided to bring the Chennai airport under a full security cover for four days, from January 20 to January 23.

After completing the airport inspection, the SPG team is scheduled to visit Madurantakam to review the public meeting venue and the helicopter landing area.
