Petrol, diesel prices hiked by 5.75 and 3.65 pc respectively in Pondicherry

The nation went into a lockdown since 25 March and since then liquor shops have remained closed. Across the nation, the states lost revenue due to lockdown. Following this, the states started to open up the liquor shops gradually to spruce up the revenue .

Following Tamil Nadu, Puducherry opened up the liquor shops two days ago. The prices of alcohol was hiked through  a government order.

In this scenario, following the price hike in liquor products, petrol and diesel have been levied with corona tax at 5.75 and 3.65 percent respectively.

This additional tax is expected to be in force for about 3 three months, according to a notification by Finance Secretary Shurbir Singh.

The citizen of Puducherry have expressed shock and dismay at the corona tax that has been levied. The increase will come into force from May 29
