People will realise who should not be CM, Nainar takes a dig at Stalin

CHENNAI: BJP state president Nainar Nagendran, on Sunday, dismissed criticisms that AIADMK would weaken because of its alliance with the BJP.
Speaking to the media in the Nilgiris, the BJP leader said the saffron party had not coerced any party into joining the alliance.

"After winning the 2026 assembly polls, the AIADMK-BJP alliance will form a government in Tamil Nadu based on a common minimum programme," he said, while accusing the DMK of creating an illusion of having a strong alliance, while internal discord persists within its coalition.

Earlier, while addressing the party's statewide campaign, "Journey of Tamil people for Tamil Nadu to stand tall," at the ATC Grounds in Ooty in the presence of Union Minister of State L Murugan, former BJP state president K Annamalai, the BJP leader said the DMK will suffer a crushing defeat in the assembly polls. "More than who should be the Chief Minister, the people have realised who shouldn't be," he said.

Alleging that the law and order situation has deteriorated in Tamil Nadu, Nagendran said crimes against women have increased by 52 per cent. On the committee headed by MP Kanimozhi to prepare the manifesto, he asked whether the promises made in the 2021 assembly polls were fulfilled by the DMK. "Even though the NDA did not win the last parliamentary polls, it secured 18 per cent of the vote share," he said.

The BJP leader said that a deepam would be lit at the Tiruparankundram hill shrine next year. Nainar Nagendran also inaugurated a mobile medical van of a private hospital in Coonoor for free cancer screening services to women in the hill district.
