Pay back Kisan dole or face legal action, Collector warns non-farmers

Those non-farmers who received the benefits under PMKSNY programme are advised to return the funds otherwise they have to undergo legal action, said the Tiruvarur District Collector T Anand on Monday.

After inspecting the Direct Purchase Centres (DPCs) functioning in Tiruvarur district, the Collector Anand said, the district administration has been under the process of recovering the PMKSNY programme funds credited into the accounts of non-farmers.

He said that more than 70 per cent of the funds have been already recovered and the process of identifying the fake entries is still ongoing.

The district administration has been keen on recovering the entire funds credited to the fake entries. The Collector asked those non-farmers to immediately pay back the fund they had received.

“We still have to receive the funds from any such persons. And it is illegal if they fail to repay. So, legal action would be initiated against those beneficiaries who fail to repay the fund”, said the Collector and added that a special team has already been formed for recovering the funds.

Meanwhile, the Collector who inspected DPCs in the district said, so far as many as 216 DPCs opened for kharif season procurement and they procure on an average of 2,500 MT paddy each day and 3,640 MT paddy has been procured so far in the district. Each DPCs has been instructed to procure up to 1,000 bags a day, added the Collector.
