Apart from these facilities, classrooms in several government schools will be equipped with around 80,000 smart boards and 828 laboratories.
Such developments will be brought to the benefit of the student community within December this year, Minister for School Education, KA Sengottaiyan said at a programme in Tirunelveli on Saturday.
Since quality education is being imparted in government schools, as many as 5.18 lakh students had quit their studies from private schools and joined government schools in the state.
It’s certainly a historic achievement by the government. While talking to reporters, the Minister said 3,942 students of government schools were provided NEET coaching during last year.
The number of students, who have been trained this year, of government schools, has gone up to 15,497.
The Minister was optimistic saying that the strength of students, who wish to undergo NEET coaching, could even go up by 2,000. Considering the needs and interests of these students, the state government is offering NEET coaching at free of cost to fulfil their dreams.
Moreover, he said on the NEET held this year, 172 questions out of 180 questions were derived from Tamil Nadu school education syllabus.
Further, the Minister said the GO passed notifying 7.5 per cent sub-quota reservation for students of Government schools to take medical seats after clearing NEET, would pave way for benefitting 303 more students in the state.
Earlier during the programme, 98 private matriculation schools in Tirunelveli district, 108 such schools in Tenkasi, 75 schools in Thoothukudi and 108 such schools in Kanyakumari have been awarded provisional recognition.
Kadambur C. Raju, Minister for Information and Publicity, V.M. Rajalakshmi, Minister for Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare and others were present.
