Over 3k COVID-19 infections in TN, recoveries outnumber new cases

4,262 persons were discharged after treatment across the State. So far, 6,59,432 persons have been discharged in the State.

The State’s COVID-19 aggregate stood at 7,03,250, while the death toll climbed to 10,858 with 33 more patients succumbing to the infection.

Tamil Nadu recorded the first coronavirus case on March 7, but July, August and September saw a rapid increase in the cases.

Health department in its bulletin said of the 45 deaths, 20 were reported in government hospitals and 13 in private hospitals.

The total number of active cases stood at 32,960.

A total of 81,472 samples were tested by RT-PCR in the last 24 hours taking the total number of samples tested till date to 93,56,580.

Chennai recorded 844 fresh cases today, taking the city’s caseload to 1,94,139 while the death toll increased to 3,580 with 11 more fatalities.
