One more fatality takes State death toll to 38,047

TN’s test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 3.4% after 14,122 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. Ranipet had the highest TPR of 6.7%.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu reported 509 new Covid cases on Saturday. Total number of cases in the State crossed 35.83 lakh. Chennai reported 103 new cases, Chengalpattu had 48 and Coimbatore had 35. TN’s test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 3.4% after 14,122 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. Ranipet had the highest TPR of 6.7%.

TN’s active cases stood at 5,466 with highest in Chennai – 2,364. With 538 people being discharged across the State, total recoveries crossed 35.40 lakh. One more death took TN’s death toll to 38,047.

A 33-year-old male from Ramanathapuram was admitted with fever, cough and difficulty in breathing. He was tested positive for Covid-19 on September 26 and had Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis. He died on September 29 due to Covid-pneumonia and respiratory failure.
