At a media meet held here, Rajinikanth said, “Tamil Nadu has historically been a place of several political happenings – it was here that Mahatma Gandhi discarded his clothes and started wearing the loincloth. I too want to create a similar political revolution. If there is a change now, the future generations will live better.” He also stressed that we all have a duty now and that he needs the support of the media for his entry into politics.”

Revealing a surprising vignette from a time before he entered the film industry, Rajini said that he had also worked for a media house at the beginning of his career. “After I failed my SSLC examination, my friend had asked me to join him in his Kannada daily as a proofreader, and I worked there for two months. After entering the industry, my first interview was to a Tamil magazine Bommai in 1976. But I’m generally media-shy, and talk only very rarely during events,” he said.
