COIMBATORE: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA Kanimozhi Santhosh said she rejected an offer of Rs 15 lakh to predict through astrology that DMK would win the assembly elections.

Addressing a gathering in Coimbatore, organised recently to highlight the TVK’s 100 days of public service, Kanimozhi Santhosh, who practised astrology before entering politics, said, “I received a call from DMK offering a Rs 15 lakh package last November. I was asked to predict through astrology that DMK would win the assembly elections and post it on YouTube. But I made it clear that DMK would not come to power, even though I was then not a member of TVK,” she said.

She also claimed to have an audio recording related to the conversation as evidence. “Political victories cannot be achieved with money,” she said, adding that she was making the allegation public so that people could know what takes place behind the scenes in politics.

Kanimozhi Santhosh also rejected criticisms that she had been advised to remain silent in the assembly when opposition members raised issues. “We have been elected to the assembly to speak about people’s problems. There will be differences of opinion within a party, but we should not allow outsiders to undermine our unity,” she said.
