North-East Monsoon: 20 tonnes of milk powder in stock, says Aavin

A total of 20 tonnes of milk powder is kept in stock across the state, officials with Aavin said.

CHENNAI: In view of the North-East Monsoon, State-run Aavin has informed that 20 tonnes of milk powder has been kept in stock in every district dairy farm.

According to Aavin, 4,000 packets of milk powder weighing 1/2 kg have been kept in each district dairy farm for uninterrupted supply in the coastal districts from Chennai to Kanniyakumari to distribute milk and other milk products to the public without any hindrance during the North-East Monsoon season.

A total of 20 tonnes of milk powder is kept in stock across the state, officials with Aavin said.

"Apart from this, 50,000 milk packets of 1/2 liter weight, of non-perishable type (UHT) up to 90 days, have been kept in stock at Sholinganallur dairy farm. A total of 9,000 kg of milk powder is kept in 9 zonal offices under Chennai, Tambaram and Avadi Corporations," the officials said.

Further, the Aavin has informed that 500 tonnes of livestock fodder and 50 tonnes of mineral mixture have been kept in stock.
