Nomination for DMK intra-party elections on October 7

In an announcement, Duraimurugan said that the nomination will commence at 10 am on October 7 and will conclude at 5 pm on the same day. Those contesting for the posts should pay Rs 50,000 as fees and can get the receipt.

CHENNAI: DMK General Secretary Duraimurugan on Friday said that the nomination for the posts of party president, general secretary, treasurer and audit committee members will be accepted on October 7.

In an announcement, Duraimurugan said that the nomination will commence at 10 am on October 7 and will conclude at 5 pm on the same day. Those contesting for the posts should pay Rs 50,000 as fees and can get the receipt. Those contesting for the posts of President, General Secretary and Treasurer should be proposed by five general council members (including headquarters executive council members) and should be seconded by another five general council members.

The general council meeting of DMK will be held on October 9, in Wings Convention centre in St.George school in Aminjikarai and when the general council meets, the intra party elections will be held for key posts in the party. Secretaries of various unions, towns, town panchayats and districts who were elected through the 15th general party elections would be eligible to cast their votes and in all the procedures the election rules of the party should be followed, added Duraimurugan.

Apart from the elections, the general council meeting will also witness some of the key elevations and expansion of deputy General Secretary posts from five to seven.
