COIMBATORE: BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday said women are unsafe in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to the media in Coimbatore, she said women are increasingly in an unsafe situation in the state. “The same government that organises women’s conferences continues to snatch away the rights of nurses, sanitation workers and teachers. They are harassed, and their basic rights are violated during protests,” she said.

Claiming that Tamil Nadu’s debt burden has increased, the BJP leader said the state has a debt of Rs 9.5 lakh crore and must pay Rs 65,000 crore in interest.

“This translates to a per capita debt burden of Rs 1.27 lakh. Giving Rs 1,000 as assistance while burdening people with debt is the Dravidian model of governance,” she said.
